After a defiant response to a question about his future, and a challenge issued to Jack DeGioia and the Board, it's time to wonder if Patrick Ewing has the program's best interests in mind anymore.
His comments are out of touch, but not unexpected.
I can't blame him for saying what he did; I blame the administration for letting him say it. Take the keys away already.
If Ewing wants to go down as the worst coach in NCAA history, I guess that's his legacy to burn. Just wish the administration had tried to salvage after the writing was on the wall last season.
The video that plays on the jumbotron to close halftime and invigorate the stadium is curiously focused on reliving Ewing's accomplishments. The ratio of highlights of his BET winning team versus his team showering Pat in the middle of the locker room is bizarrely low. It's an uncomfortable watching the PR spot for him rather than the team or program.
I went to Georgetown a bit after you did and respect you all immensely. But what in his tenure makes you think this isn't at least partially on him. Fundamentals have been terrible. The attrition rate is the worst I've ever seen. Defensive schemes are dysfunctional. Teams adjust to us in the second half. We do not (hence the numerous second half meltdowns). There is an all-time futility with this losing streak. I've never seen a good out of a timeout or off a missed free throw play executed. Very few players improve in this program. There is a MAJOR disconnect now with the program and the students, DMV and alumni. Everyone I know that had season tickets and/or donated no longer do. Other schools are feeling the futility in their ability to put good wins on their tournament resume. He repeatedly throws players and assistants under the bus.
I mean at some point you have to admit you can't pin all this on the fraudulent Chief of Staff.
Again I respect your opinion, but I must ask you: is it time for a change that is outside the Thompson reach?
Thus far, Denver Anglin is the 2nd coming of Reggie Cameron - a NJ kid with a HS reputation as a deadeye shooter who comes to Georgetown and can’t throw the ball in the ocean.
I’m not that offended by what he said - a little gruff but you’d hardly expect him to say “yeah, the AD’s right, we suck but I’m doing the best I can.” Everyone involved knows what’s coming, it’s just a matter of figuring out how to clean up the mess.

*Worst coach based on on-court performance.

Trust me it's not Patrick, he was just put in a bad position because of other people selfish reasons!
appreciate your sentiment
