Love is Love: Baylor Guard Langston Love Commits to Georgetown
Ed Cooley and the Hoyas are off and running in the portal, securing a commitment from the Baylor transfer guard.
Despite their season not officially being over, Georgetown has kicked off their portal shopping this offseason with a commitment from Langston Love, a 6-foot-5 redshirt junior guard from Baylor University.
Love, who was ranked #28 nationally in the Class of 2021 by ESPN, played in 20 games this season, starting 12, and averaged 8.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. He shot 38.9% from the field, 32.6% from three, and 89.2% from the free throw line.
During his sophomore season, Love shot 48% from three-point range. Over his career, he has been a 39% three-point shooter.
His best season at Baylor came in 2023-24, when he earned All-Big 12 Honorable Mention honors by averaging 11.0 points per game. His season was cut short due to injury however.
Love’s college career has been riddled with injuries, which represents the biggest question mark when evaluating his future impact as a Georgetown Hoya. Love missed his entire freshman season due to an ACL injury suffered during a scrimmage. During his redshirt sophomore season, he suffered a lower leg injury that ended his season early. The following season, recurring ankle soreness stemming from a previous injury caused him to miss significant playing time, including the entire month of January.
The addition of Love, if healthy, gives Georgetown an offensive-minded guard who should provide a boost to a roster that struggled mightily with three-point shooting this season. The Hoyas were ranked 292nd in the nation in three-point percentage.
During his redshirt sophomore season, Love had an effective field goal percentage of 55.5% and a true shooting percentage of 60.2%. Georgetown will hope that Love can work past his lower leg injuries as a Hoya and return to being the elite shooter he has shown he can be.
