Georgetown forward Ish Massoud will miss approximately 6-8 weeks after suffering a broken hand, according to a report from John Fanta. Sources tell Hilltop Hoops that the injury is to Massoud’s right hand, his shooting hand.
The news of Massoud’s injury is a brutal blow for Georgetown, who will have to rely on freshman forward Drew Fielder to fill in for Massoud while the Kansas State transfer is sidelined.
With 15 days until Georgetown’s season tips off, Massoud is set to miss a majority, if not all of the Hoyas’ non-conference schedule.
Adam Zagoria of ZAGSBLOG.com later reported that Massoud was likely to be out for closer to 4-6 weeks. However, sources with knowledge of the situation indicate to Hilltop Hoops that Massoud is likely to miss closer to 6-7 weeks, rather than the more optimistic timeline offered up by Zagoria.
An absence of 6-7 weeks would put a return for Massoud around the December 5-12 range, if all goes well. Georgetown hosts Syracuse on December 9. It’s non-conference schedule concludes on December 16 at Notre Dame.
