Source: Georgetown Hiring Pat Baldwin Sr. as Assistant Coach
Georgetown has filled out its coaching staff with the hiring of Pat Baldwin Sr., father of former top-5 recruit Pat Baldwin Jr., who chose Milwaukee over the Hoyas last summer.
According to a source inside the Georgetown men’s basketball program, Georgetown is hiring former Milwaukee head men’s basketball coach Pat Baldwin Sr. as an assistant coach on the Hoyas’ coaching staff.
A video posted to the Instagram story of Irv Horne Jr., the team’s equipment manager, on Thursday afternoon, showed Baldwin Sr. on the practice court alongside other members of the Georgetown coaching staff, including Patrick Ewing, Clinton Crouch and director of basketball operations Bill Howze.
Notably, Baldwin Sr. is the father of Patrick Baldwin Jr., a top-5 recruit in last year’s 2021 recruiting class who chose Milwaukee over Georgetown and Duke. Baldwin Jr. has kept his name in the NBA Draft as an early entrant, so there is no chance of him returning to college, and going to play at Georgetown.
Baldwin Sr. was fired by Milwaukee after finishing the season with an overall record of 10-22, and 8-14 in the Horizon League. Baldwin was 57-92 overall in five seasons as head coach of the Panthers.
Per source, Baldwin Sr. is expected to hit the road this weekend to begin recruiting for Georgetown. With Louis Orr shifting to the role of Special Assistant to the Head Coach, this now means Patrick Ewing has filled the three assistant coach spots on his staff, with Kevin Nickelberry, Clinton Crouch, and now Pat Baldwin Sr.
Good news - thank you, Aidan.
