D'Ante Bass Commits to Georgetown
The 2022 wing committed to Georgetown less than 72 hours after completing his official visit to the Hilltop over the weekend.
D’Ante Bass, a 6-foot-7 wing in the Class of 2022 from Savannah, GA, committed to Georgetown on Friday afternoon. The decision comes less than 72 hours after Bass completed his official visit to Georgetown.
In an interview with Hilltop Hoops on Wednesday, Bass was effusive in his feelings towards Georgetown after his visit. The Hoyas were one of his first offers, and a big push that started early in the fall sealed the deal for Georgetown and Bass.
Ranked #248 overall by 247Sports with a 3-star rating, Bass is very much an under-the-radar prospect, but don’t let that distract you. Bass is one of the elite athletes in the Class of 2022, and is fluid mover in the open court. He played with the Atlanta Celtics this summer, a premier AAU team on Adidas’s 3SSB circuit, and went toe-to-toe with some of the top recruits in the game.
Bass has all the tools to be a starting-caliber for player for Georgetown in the Big East, as long as he can improve two things: his jumpshot, and his offhand.
Bass has the handles, the athleticism, the speed, and the toughness to win matchups on both ends of the floor. At this stage though, Bass is very reliant on his left hand, so he will need to develop his offhand to have the level of success that he is capable of having with. He’s excellent at working downhill and attacking the basket, but college opponents will sit on his left hand and make him go right, until he learns how to attack with the ball in his right hand too.
Georgetown first offered Bass back in December 2020. Things seemed to cool off between Bass and the Hoyas early in the summer, but Georgetown renewed its efforts as summer turned to fall and its recruiting board began to shake up. Patrick Ewing and Louis Orr paid Bass a visit at his high school, Windsor Forest, on September 30, and a little over a month later, secured the commitment from the high-flying prospect.
Bass’ commitment gives Georgetown its second commitment in the Class of 2022, joining sharp-shooting Gill St. Bernard’s guard Denver Anglin. The duo of Anglin and Bass gives Georgetown the #46 overall recruiting class in the Class of 2022, and the #5 recruiting class in the Big East, according to 247Sports.
With one remaining scholarship left for 2022-23, Georgetown could look to bring in another center, as its depth chart there looks to be a bit thin for 2022-23.
Welcome to the Hilltop, D’Ante Bass!
